300 days since Taner KiliƧ was imprisoned in Turkey – unjustly, for no legitimate legal reason, in the attempt to silence critical voices and human rights defenders in the country. Amnesty International marks this date with with a Global Day of Action around the world, including in Portugal where activists will distribute a total of 2,500 chalk sticks on the streets, with a label alluding to this human rights case. The chalk sticks reminds the way the inmates mark the passing of days on the walls of the cells. In a symbolic way, the first delivery of one of these chalk sticks is made by Amnesty International Portugal at the Turkish Embassy in Lisbon.
